I did a quick 5k today. And I do mean quick! For me, at least. I have decided to do one 5k a week, as fast as I can. I'll also do a long run once a week (which will be 5 miles this week), and then one or two other runs. Probably a tempo run and a hill or fartlek run. My Nike+ says my fastest 5k was 32:33, so I'd like to beat that this year.
Seventeen weeks until the 25k!
Distance: 3.11 miles
Time: 33:48
Pace: 10:50/mile
I'm going to bet that before your 25K, you'll be able to run that 5K in under 30. I'm THAT confident in your determination! You rock, lady!

ReplyDeleteHehe, it's like speedwork. So, you'd run like this, for example:
run at 5.0 mph for 10 minutes (warm up)
run at 5.5 mph for 5 minutes
run at 5.0 for 2 minutes (cool down)
run at 5.8 for 5 minutes
run at 5.0 for 2 minutes
run at 6.0 for 5 minutes
Etc, for 30-45 minutes, or whatever distance.
