I got the flu for Christmas, so I haven't run in a week. Feeling mostly better, I thought I should go for a run today, and enjoy the last day of the year with an outdoor run. I put on the beautiful new running shirt my mother gave me for Christmas, complete with thumb holes. It doesn't get any cooler than that. She sent me a pink one and a black one - perfect choices.
I set my Nike Plus for a 2 mile run, and head out. I started on the sidewalk, but most people don't plow their sidewalk unless there's more than a couple of inches of snow, and it was pretty slippery, even though it was slushy. So I did what I have never done before - ran in the road. I'm always nervous that I'll get hit, or that I'll fall, or that I'll look like an idiot. But I did it anyway, and people were so nice, pulling WAY over to the other side of the road for me. I waved my thanks as I trotted by.
I had a great pace today, and thought about going for a 5k, but with the lingering cough, I thought it best to do my 2 miles and get home.
Great run to end the year.
